• Deutsche Afrika-Linien/John T. Essberger Group of Companies (“DAL/JTE-Group”) outsources the chartering activities of their six dry cargo vessels.
• Blue Net Chartering GmbH & Co. KG (“Blue Net Chartering”) will act as the exclusive chartering broker for the 3 container vessels owned by the Group.
• The Hanseatic Unity Handysize Pool will act as the pool manager for the 3 Handysize bulkers owned by the Group.

August 29th 2019. Deutsche Afrika-Linien/John T. Essberger Group of Companies (“DAL/JTE-Group”) has decided to appoint two Hamburg based outfits to commercially handle their dry cargo vessels going forward. After having sourced the market for an ideal partner for some time DAL/JTE-Group decided to commercially place their container vessels into the hands of Blue Net Chartering, a joint chartering platform established by the Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG and Vert S.A., an affiliate of Costamare Shipping Company S.A. Blue Net Chartering aims to provide best-in-class employment opportunities for containership owners and currently provides brokerage services for a fleet of 275 container vessels. The Handysize bulkers owned by DAL/JTE-Group will be joining the recently established Hanseatic Unity Handysize Pool. HUHP is a joint venture between Reederei NORD GmbH and Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG set up in late 2018. The HUHP provides exclusive pool services for the Handysize vessels of their founding partners and other third-party customers, currently standing at 22 vessels. The decision to work with external commercial partners does not mean that DAL/JTEGroup is exiting the dry cargo and container sector, quite the opposite even. DAL/JTE-Group will stay invested and focus on the role as asset manager in these markets which are regarded as an interesting addition to the other activities of DAL/JTE-Group in the liner trade represented by the brands Deutsche Afrika-Linien and United Africa Feeder Lines and in the European chemical tanker business under the brand Essberger Tankers.
